Dear {name}so exciting and heart-warming to see that we will be ending this remarkable year on a high note: South Africa is open to international travellers again!

Others who will be spending the next few weeks leading up to Christmas and New Year at home, or close to home, will be glad to know that we've come up with a range of events at BK. Scroll down to find out how you can get your mind out of isolation and into a festive (and Covid-safe) mood, all the while nibbling and sipping and breathing in fresh Swartland air.

This is also a good time to say thank you. We have been warmly encouraged by the support we have received since re-opening our doors after lockdown. We know these are confusing and uncertain times, and while we try to do what we can to keep the BK experience as close to what it has been for many years as possible, we rely on your trust and your support to get this right. Thank you!

Love from the BK team xx

[ INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL ] International travellers to South Africa must produce a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test that is not older than 72 hours from the time of departure from the country of origin. This test must be conducted by a certified medical practitioner and should have the name and signature of the practitioner who conducted the test.

Upon arrival in the port of entry, the traveller will be screened for any COVID-19 symptoms or for contact with people who have been infected with the COVID-19 virus.

Travellers will also need to provide proof of accommodation should they need to self-quarantine at the time of arrival in the country.

[ MEANWHILE, AT THE FARM ] We have mentioned it in our previous newsletters, but feel a need to share our pride with you once more: in the last couple of month we were fortunate to put our services to good use by supporting local community food schemes with 45,000 meals. Quiet times during lockdown also saw the BK hospitality team helping out on the farm with the preparation of 20 ha of land for new almond trees ... we've planted 8,500 trees in one week!

[ SOLO STUDIOS ] Riebeek Valley's popular Solo Studios art event takes place from 11 to 13 December this year - a great opportunity to meet amazing local artists while staying and relaxing in the beautiful Riebeek Valley. BK is a mere 20 minutes' drive from central Riebeek, and we (still) offer sharply reduced rates at our main farmhouse. For bookings and enquiries: WhatsApp Lesley at 0828294131 or info@bartholomeusklip.com

[ SUNDAY LUNCH : 22 NOV ] Sundays should be fun days! Forget slogging away over cooking pots ... sit back, relax, and leave the cooking and serving to us. Join us with family and friends around a sumptuous lunch table to share hearty, bite-sized food and stories, while children are running around barefoot, hiding behind trees, or paddling on the dam’s unfiltered mountain water. All of this against the backdrop of the Elandsberg Nature Reserve. We’ll serve lunch with local, seasonal, quality produce at R280 pp (kids under 12 half price). Get all the details (including the menu) here. Bookings: info@bartholomeusklip.com

[ SPECIAL EXTENDED TO 23 DEC ] We are still running exceptional specials for our main farmhouse and self-catering houses - a great opportunity for locals to stay at BK!

You can stay at the main Farmhouse before 24 December for only R2,600 full board per night per person sharing. This includes brunch, high tea, dinner, guided nature drives, exclusive access to the farmhouse, restaurant and private nature reserve, hiking, MTB trails, and kayaks.

Staying at the self-catering Wild Olive House costs only R3,400 (for the house per night, sleeps 6 adults) and staying at Heron House costs R5,088 (for the house per night, sleeps 12 adults).

Remember, these special offers expire on 24 December 2020. Read all about our Covid-19 protocols here. Booking requests and enquiries: WhatsApp 0828294131 or info@bartholomeusklip.com

[ POP UP : 12 DEC ] When inspiration strikes, resident chef Louise Gillett ignites roaring fires at random, improvised locations around BK, and cooks up storms and hurricanes as well as gentle breezes and delicious drizzles for exclusive audiences of food fans: six courses of bold flavours from locally foraged and sourced ingredients, from the farm, the Swartland region and the West Coast, paired with wines from the region. These are special events you cannot afford to miss! Bookings and enquiries: WhatsApp Lesley at 0828294131 or info@bartholomeusklip.com

[ WAGYU BEEF ] A quick heads-up from our Wagyu beef department ;-) Burger patties, sausages and biltong are currently available - all of them perfect for a lovely summer evening braai! Order from our online shop, or contact Lesley at 0828294131 or info@bartholomeusklip.com

[ CHRISTMAS LUNCH x 2 ] We are offering two Christmas lunches this year: one on 20 December, and one on 25 December - both informal, relaxed, Christmas-themed, family-friendly affairs at the deckhouse with a Christmas theme, at the edge of the dam and overlooking the Elandsberg Nature Reserve. View the menus here (20 December) and here (25 December). Bookings and enquiries: WhatsApp Lesley at 0828294131 or info@bartholomeusklip.com

[ NEW YEAR'S EVE DINNER ] We are still finalising the details, but are excited to announce our New Year's Eve Dinner on 31 December. Bookings and enquiries: WhatsApp Lesley at 0828294131 or info@bartholomeusklip.com

[ FAMILY LONG TABLE : 10 JAN ] An informal, relaxed and family-friendly long-table lunch under the trees at the BK farmhouse gardens. View the menu here. For bookings and enquiries: WhatsApp Lesley at 0828294131 or info@bartholomeusklip.com
