Dear {name}, Autumn has checked in at the Farmhouse. Just like every other year, she has arrived in her usual mahogany-red and golden-brown attire, bringing with her a fresh bite and a soft glow in the air. The daytime's heat would almost make one forget that it is Winter she is here to announce at nighttime ...

Let it not be a secret, we LOVE Autumn at the farm! It is that time of the year when temperatures, colours and fragrances momentarily settle comfortably between Summer's scorching heat and Winter's wet cold. A quietening of the world, only interupted by fluffy lambs that just cannot wait to be born ...

In this newsletter, we tell you about Louise and Lesley's spectacular celebration of Autumn, about our Mother's Day (and other Sundays) lunch at the Deckhouse, about our self-catering family houses and about the latest photos of our Farmhouse.

We hope to be welcoming you at Bartholomeus Klip soon. Love from the BK team xx

[ POP UP ] It is now official: 'FOMOPU' is a thing ... Fear of Missing Out on a Pop-Up ;-) When Lesley and Louise decide to throw a culinary feast to welcome autumn, it should come as no surprise that things got interesting. And abundant. And full of surprises. Oh, and a little late ... Like any artist true to her passion, Louise is at her best when she's left free to explore. When she's in control of the dots and how to connect them. What she came up with this time was simply mind-boggling and tongue-waggling. Wagyu came in three radically different ways. A mussel arrived at the table, surfing on top of a newspaper. Duck was served on top of a flower pot filled with hot coals. Asian pork had to be chop-sticked out of a box. Of course, all of this would hardly make sense if it hadn't occured against the backdrop of a perfectly improvised tractor shed, supported by impeccable service and accompanied by top-class wines from the The House of GM&AHRENS. It was simply one of those nights ...

We were lucky to have the very talented Skillie from 'Kikitography' at the event, who captured the evening in great detail. View his pictures here

Should you wish to be the first to find out about our next Smoke & Fire Pop-up, keep an eye on our website or follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

[ SUNDAY LUNCH ] Imagine … it's Sunday, and you don’t feel like cooking, but still want the family or friends gathered around a sumptuous lunch table, sharing hearty, bite-sized food and stories.

Allow us to take over … Let us do the cooking, and the serving, and let us invite you to a carefree, relaxing Sunday Lunch. Children can run around barefoot, hide behind trees, or paddle on the dam’s unfiltered mountain water, while you unwind from a week filled with to-do lists and schedules. See details (and menu) here.

We serve a family-style Sunday lunch at the water's edge on selected Sundays 2, 16 and 30 May 2021 (see details), and a very special Mother's Day Lunch on 9 May (see details).

[ STAYCATION DESTINATION ] It's all here, your staycation destination at just over an hour's drive from Cape Town near Riebeeck Kasteel. Wake up to the natural rhythm of our historic farm and its residents, including Geometric tortoise hatchlings, lambs, Quagga and many more. Walk and cycle in our private nature reserve, join a guided nature drive, paddle and swim in our dam, and end the day basking in golden sunsets, sipping and nibbling on Swartland delicacies.

Our two self-catering farm houses cater for 6 and 12 guests, and are perfect for groups of friends and family of all ages. Food can be ordered from our online pantry, and delivered at your house.

[ @FORKANDSTORY ] We love how Nusara from Amsterdam managed to capture the very essence of BK during her recent stay. Watch her pictures here

[ NUTSHELL ] Full board and self-catering farmhouses, pop-up events, a dam, a farm, a wedding venue, a nature reserve, conferences ... you would be forgiven for feeling a little confused about what is on offer at BK. We've listed it all neatly and succinctly here.

[ CORPORATE MEETINGS ] Corporate events at BK are individually designed for small groups, and held at a wide variety of breathtaking locations throughout the farm and nature reserve, or at the private, two-storey air-conditioned conference room overlooking the dam and mountains.
