Located about one hour’s drive from Cape Town, at a working sheep and wheat farm, in the middle of a 10,00 acre nature reserve, Bartholomeus Klip offers various venues at the farm, each with its very own atmosphere and facilities.

We offer the perfect setting near Cape Town for individually designed, intimate weddings, with a complete wedding package providing plenty of choice to make the occasion unique. Weddings have become a speciality at Bartholomeus Klip, and the Deckhouse makes a magical setting for groups of up to 50 guests enjoying drinks, dinner and the ceremony itself. For larger groups, the lawns around the farmhouse provide ample space to set up a marquee and have a party to remember for decades. Couples have chosen to marry in all sorts of unusual places around the farm or in the reserve, and we are happy to accommodate any wish wherever we can.

Eight reasons to celebrate a mid-week winter engagement, wedding, or renewal of your wedding vows, at BK

1 April – 30 September 2019 (excluding July)

  1. FLEXIBLE OPTIONS: Choose one or all from these options at BK: the deckhouse, the farmhouse lawns, the nature reserve, the working sheep and wheat farm, the restaurant or the guesthouse. All options are flexible, and can be adjusted to your unique plans and wishes.
  2. INTIMATE & PRIVATE: BK is especially perfect for private, intimate and personalised celebrations, with medium to small groups of people
  3. CLOSE TO CAPE TOWN: BK is only one hour’s drive from Cape Town, a perfect day out in the platteland for your city slicker friends and family members.
  4. AVAILABILITY & PRICES: Getting married on a weekday means that wedding professionals and suppliers offer better prices and availability.
  5. WEATHER: Showing off your love for fashion in your floral wedding dress or Italian-woven woollen suit is so much more enjoyable on a crisp sunny winter day then on a smouldering mid summer day.
  6. TOP-NOTCH KITCHEN & SERVICE: In its 20 years of operation, BK has built a solid reputation for its impeccable farm-style hospitality and deliciously fresh food.
  7. STAY & PLAY: Our 5 rooms and self-catering cottage allow you and your guests to stay the night. Keep an eye out for our annual winter specials!
  8. LOVE, GET MARRIED, LOVE, REPEAT: Getting married only once is, well, so last season. Today, we get married in the summer and repeat the fun in winter. We get married in Europe, and repeat the fun in Africa. We get married at 25, and repeat the fun at 45 (and 65, and …)

1. The Deckhouse

The BK Deckhouse was built with the specific purpose of hosting celebrations for medium sized groups of guests. While the two-story deckhouse interior has an intimate and informal clubhouse kind of atmosphere, the balcony and stoep overlook the majestic Elandskloof Mountains, Elandsberg Nature Reserve and our dam – the perfect place to view sunsets. Food and drinks can be served from our deckhouse kitchen inside or outside the deckhouse, or at the lawn, where a big fire can be made in true African style.

2. The Gardens

The sprawling lawns, manicured plants and shady trees of the BK Gardens offer a true, authentic farm setting for your wedding. There is enough space to set up a marquee, or kick off your shoes, gather around a long table and create unforgettable memories while chatting, eating and dancing the night away.

3. The Nature Reserve

The 10,000 acre Elandsberg Nature Reserve is a protected nature conservation area, boasting free roaming herds of zebra, quagga, eland, wildebees and an abundance of flowers and birds. We can organise private functions in the reserve.

4. Sheep & Wheat Farm

The inhabitants of the working farm at which BK is located, including sheep, buffalo, tortoise and geese, never shy away from a great photo opportunity with the bride and groom. The old buildings and historic walls offer more great authentic locations to make your special wedding moments all the more memorable.

5. The Guesthouse

There is a long history of hospitality at Bartholomeus Klip, which shows in the friendly smiles that greet our guests and the relaxed atmosphere of the homestead. You are welcome to make the house your own, perhaps in one of the reception rooms where an open fire crackles in the winter months, or on the broad verandah that winds around the house and catches the late afternoon sun. There are four double rooms with bathrooms in the beautifully furnished farmhouse and one separate suite outside, with its own secluded verandah looking over the veld and up to the mountains. Finishes everywhere are luxurious and stylish, with crisp cotton bedding and elegant fabrics. Our own toiletries add a special touch to the Victorian-style bathrooms.

The BK Restaurant is where our celebrated and published resident chef Louise Gillett pulls the strings. Louise prides herself on a fusion of traditional South African farm-style recipes with the latest techniques and trends, always with fresh and locally sourced produce.
